Team
Executive Chairman
Mr. Young brings over three decades of leadership experience across both the upstream and downstream segments of the energy industry, with a strong focus on business development, new ventures, gas marketing, and commercial management. He has held senior roles with major organizations in the UK and Australia, including EY, Tarong Energy, and Santos.
In 2011, Mr. Young founded Golden Horde Ltd, which later became Elixir Energy, where he served as Managing Director for seven years, successfully guiding the company through significant growth. He has also been instrumental in developing new energy ventures in markets such as Kazakhstan, Japan, and the United States.
Mr. Young currently serves as Chairman of Australian Carbon Vault, a South Australia–based carbon capture and storage company, and as a Non-Executive Director of Asian Battery Metals.
Technical Director
Mr. Channon is a geologist with over 35 years of international oil and gas experience, spanning a wide range of technical and leadership roles. He has significant exploration expertise in New Zealand, where he lived for five years and served as Country and New Ventures Manager for Fletcher Challenge.
Throughout his career, Greg has worked with leading E&P companies including Delhi, Santos, Fletcher Challenge Energy, Shell, Swift Energy, BrightOil, and Pathfinder. His professional journey has taken him across Australia, New Zealand, the USA, Hong Kong, China, and Africa, providing him with deep insights into diverse energy markets.
Greg’s expertise covers the full oil and gas value chain — from exploration, operations, and development through to production, economics, commercial negotiations, new ventures, business development, and IPO start-ups. He has also served on the Boards of Directors of companies listed on the ASX, NYSE, TSX, and HKSE, reflecting his strong governance and leadership experience at an international level.
Chief Executive Officer
Dr. McKeown is a senior energy executive and commercial adviser with nearly 30 years’ experience across exploration, new ventures, transactions, stakeholder engagement and corporate strategy. He has spent more than two decades working in New Zealand’s energy sector, including senior and advisory roles with Hibiscus Petroleum, Melbana Energy, New Zealand Oil & Gas, L&M Energy, Austral Pacific, Arrowhead Energy and GNS Science.
Dr. McKeown is the founder and Principal Consultant of NZ Energy Consultants. He combines scientific training and commercial judgement with deep knowledge of New Zealand’s geology, energy markets, regulatory framework, and stakeholder environment.
He has led and supported transactions worth more than US$1 billion across New Zealand, Australia, Indonesia, Cuba and the United States, and has extensive experience working with government, iwi, investors, industry partners, and local communities to progress complex energy projects.
General Manager Corporate Affairs
Mr. Ramsden is a multidisciplinary earth scientist and founding member of multiple energy and resources startups, including two New Zealand-based companies that he established and led from inception. His experience spans early-stage exploration, technical development, corporate strategy and executive leadership.
He also brings a strong background in corporate affairs and stakeholder engagement across the energy and resources sectors, including serving as General Manager of Corporate Affairs at Australian Carbon Vault. Mr. Ramsden has significant experience in government and regulatory engagement, landowner and Traditional Owner relations, community consultation and investor relations across multiple jurisdictions. Combining technical, commercial and communications expertise, he is skilled at navigating complex stakeholder environments, building trusted relationships, securing project support and aligning corporate objectives with government, regulatory and community expectations.
